MAster project, Interior building cities, TU Delft, 2021
Tutors: Susanne Pietsch & koen mulder

The project is centrally situated in Amsterdam’s city center, nestled on the grounds known as ‘t Landje. Positioned adjacent to the renowned music concert hall Paradiso and opposite a high school. The program of the builging consists of a spacious theater on the ground floor, a more intimate theater space on the first floor, and music classrooms on the second floor. The programm is the result of a context research, revealing a need from the high school for both a break space and facilities for cultural activities. In response to this insight, the informal theater not only addresses the high school’s requirements but also serves as a cultural venue during weekends and evenings. This dual-purpose facility becomes a cultural hub, catering to both the school community and the broader neighbourhood including Paradiso. The process consist of a 'workshop week' at the beginning, followed by drawing and modelling the context in Autocad and Rhino. Alongside the design process one reference project is analysed: 'De Plantage', and one embedded narrative is explored: 'De Rijkskas'.

  Embedded Narrative

Starting point: Rijkskas concept - Space & Matters architects

Location Rijksmuseum & Rijkskas

P.J.H. Cuypers - Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, 1905

"The State Treasury, a unique concept that provides the Rijksmuseum and the city of Amsterdam the opportunity to distinguish themselves culinarily, art historically, educationally, architecturally, and technologically. The State Treasury is more than just an icon that enhances the surroundings. Visitors to the treasury are surprised with living history and culturally edible heritage. The State Treasury is Amsterdam's showcase for conveying its vision of urban agriculture and healthy nutrition."
